Kraft and Natural September over at Imaginarium Designs

Hi everyone, September is the month that I would like to inspire you to use Kraft/Natural elements in your creations. I love going to second hand shops and my bestie and I always make sure we pop into our favourite shop every time we head to Melbourne and we get very excited in obtaining new supplies of ephemera to add to our projects.

One of my other loves is geocaching... treasure hunting... and it takes me all over Australia. I love taking photos of old ruins and wagons which are perfect for using in my layouts and the old stamps I got from our favourite shop were perfect to add to my layout.

I used rust paints to layer over the chipboard cogs, matching the rust on the wagon wheels in the photo and mixed the paint with gesso to tie the background into the layers of the layout.  A huge thankyou to my special friend Deena for giving me some old negatives; this negative strip is of old quilts....perfect..I thought for my background layers. I added hessian for texture and to provide depth to the page. The chipboard title was coated in yellow oxide rust paint to give texture and an earthy colour with the chevron being grey white to connect with the torn sections of the paper layers and old weathered wood of the wagon.

My second share today is a hand cut Kraft tag; I have used new australian designed 13arts papers by Fiona Paltridge in my layers to add to the rustic historic feel I was aiming for.

This was a quick project using gesso and a swipe of rust paint and blue distress ink over a stencil for the background. A stack of papers, black cotton and tickets cut from Fiona's papers make up the next layer with the addition of the painted number chipboard, brass cogs and hessian to build up the layers up. To finish the tag I added splats of white paint and a beautiful brass clock and key embellishment.

My last share with you all today is a page I've been waiting to do for a while, I love this photo and have been waiting for the right challenge to use it.

This striking page was created by applying some sections of washi tape then using a roller to apply a section of red acrylic paint onto the page, the same paint was used over an alphabet stencil. Sections of white dots were added with a stencil and white acrylic and some writing with a mix of black paint and gel medium in a fine nosed applicator bottle was added for contrast. The photo was added over the top of natural coconut fibre with a wooden painted button embellishment. The chipboard title was painted in black acrylic paint to tie the whole page together.
