July 8th- Quick Birthday card

I was on a tight time schedule an had to make a card fast, with my craft room at the ready I spread out my stash of inks, sprays, paints, gesso, modeling paste and card stock. And with the help of a few Kaisercraft flowers and the pieces from their Curiosity Collection , a handmade flower and a few embellishments and cotton I made this card.

Using a Kaszazz stencil I added modeling paste then sprayed Dylusions inks Vibrant Turquiose and Cherry Pie mixed with White Linen to spray the card drying each layer with a heat gun. I sprayed Lemon  Zest onto my Crafters Workship stencils before edging it with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink.   Next I added 2 patterned washi tapes  and splats of black watercolor paint.
 I painted a kraft frame with gesso, stamped it with Worn Lipstick distress ink and then stamped it with a script stamp from Kasazz with StazOn ink edging it with Vintage Photo distress ink and black waterpaint.
All that was left to do was add my tag, arrange my flowers, embellishments and cotton before finishing it off with shimmer spray and pearls. I added the number 21 (sprayed chipboard numbers with Vibrant Turquiose and shimmer ink) to demonstrate that you can use the frame to highlight the birthday being celebrated.

Paper Secrets June challenge: DANCE

There is one thing in the world that makes your heart dance, and anyone who has grandchildren will know its the LOVE that grows from the day they arrive. 

Over at Paper Secrets there is a great sketch that you also need to incorporate items, colors, brands etc  that begin with the letters of the word DANCE.

 

The elements that I used were:

D- Distress Inks. A- Arrows. N- Numbers & a Nanny (Of course).

C- Cotton. E- Embossing.

I explored my stash of papers and chose a pattern piece for my background and some scraps that I could tear into long strips. After glueing the strips on I covered the whole page with white gesso; wiping off some in a few areas to show some of the now antiqued background and then splattered white gesso over the page.

I spraying water and used my blue and red watercolors to layer color onto different areas until I had produced the effect I happy with. The next layer to be added was a variety of washi tapes, stamping with StazOn black ink with my Kaszazz Script stamp 'season lifetime', and with watered down black gesso and a range of different size circles such as cotton reels, paper towel roll and a camerbert cheese box, I placed stamped circles around the page.

I backed my main photo with card that I'd water colored and stamped to match the background and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Iced spruce','Smokey blue' and 'Barn Door' to edge the backing and photos. I placed black Cotton and black and white Cotton twine down, and splattered watered down black gesso onto the page before adding my photos and a handmade heart that I inked red with Kaszazz pigment ink and Embossed with iridescent embossing powder. 

To finish the page off I stamped the date of when the photos were taken (Numbers), added the chipboard word 'Love' from Kaszazz after I'd inked it the same as the love heart and added some cork Arrows from Studio Calico.

Off the Rails Scrapbooking Use Fabric Design Team Inspiration Layout

Hi thanks for dropping by to check out my DT inspiration layout, just recently my beautiful god daughter had a daughter of her own and I couldn't resist doing a layout to celebrate her birth.

To begin with I placed a layer of gesso with my fingers over dragonfly paper and when dry used a burlap stencil to add the pale pink pattern over the gesso. Using StazOn I stamped script over the top in several places and then attached some cheesecloth which I had sprayed with "Cherry Pie" and " White Linen" dylusions ink to produce a varied soft pink effect. To finish the background I sprayed the paper with "White Linen" dylusions ink and then using watercolour crayons I splattered it with water down yellow, pink and black.

Fabric elements I added after completing the background were flowers that I had made at one of my camping trips, pink chiffon material under the butterfly strip and a butterfly that was printed on some fabric that I had brought from Spotlight last weekend with this layout in mind. I used a mix of white and crimson watercolour to change the small white flowers to pink.






I use Kaisercraft  Collections 'Telegraph Road' and flowers, Reminisce cardstock stickers butterflies and strips, to layer with my variety of paper scraps. Finishing off the layout with pink striped cotton twine, pink embroidery cotton and a silver butterfly on the details of her birth.

Of course my cat Sebastian has to make his normal appearance, critique and pose for a photo.

Simple things in life~ Scrap Our Stash May Challenge.

 Recently my daughter took my grand children down to the Valley Lakes to feed the ducks. I loved the photos that were sent to me, Imi was mesmerised by the wonder of the ducks, and had a great time offering and then throwing them some bread. It really is the simple things in life that give you the best memories in life.

Scrap Our Stash May Challenge

I discovered this wonderful challenge site and thought I'd take on the sketch challenge of 3 photos as I have only been concentrating on single photos on my layouts. This is my take on Scrap Our Stash May Challenge.

My background was on 12"x12" white bazzille cardstock and using my 'Lyra aquacolour' crayons and water in a spray bottle all which I purchased from 'Kaszazz' added sections of green and blue. As I couldn't find a straw and I wanted to make my blue spray outwards, I had to experiment with blowing it myself, and I must say that was an interesting technique to try. I then painted the edges of a range of circular resources on the table such as cups and lids from ink/water spraying bottles and printed circles of different sizes on the background spraying water on over each to soften the edges. The next layer was using my new honeycomb stencil (Crafter Workshop) with Tim Holtz 'Weather Wood' distress ink and then added splatters of green and blue over the page. 

I backed the photos with some green patterned paper from my stash which I'd cut to size, distressed the edges and edged with Tim Holtz ' Smoky Sky' and black gesso, and then layered some elements from one of my favourite 'Kaisercraft' Collection Packs 'Curiousity' edged with 'Weather wood'.including the 'simple things' saying   Imi loves butterflies so instead of using a chevron pattern I used butterflies flying in a line finishing off with a little girl and creating a little fairy.

 Using black gesso I painted my title 'Remember THIS Moment' (Kaisercraft wooden flourish) and while I waited for it to dry I painted the little camera from 'Studio Calico' orange with my crayons and decided that what my layout was missing was stamping so I made a cover for my photos and stamped around my layout with a newsprint stamp from a friends amazing stamp collection. I used white cotton I'd inked with 'Weathered Wood' distress ink in and around the photos and Black cotton to make circles. To finish off my page I used watered down black gesso; edged the photo frames and splattered it around to tie the title and layout together.

Nana's Boy ~ 1,2,3 Get Scrappy May Challenge.

When I saw this Challenge I got very excited as I had been waiting for the right combinations of elements to combine to create a layout of my handsome grandson. I have a beautiful photo scrapped and framed on my lounge wall of my gorgeous grand daughter and when my daughter shared this gorgeous photo of him all rugged up as he watched her playing netball, I thought 'that's a photo I have to scrap and frame' and put up with Imi. So this is what I have designed. 

The Elements I chose were Rectangle shapes, gears or clogs and blue background.

I started with a blue 12" x 12" piece of cardstock  and sprayed sections with 'London Blue' Dylusions Ink.'  Using Tim Holtz Distress Inks 'Smokey Sky' and 'Vintage Photo' over my Kaszazz Honeycomb stencil I blended both colours together to give my background a masculine feel before I added splatters of watered down watercolour crayons (Blue, black and green) to complete my Blue Background. 

I chose a range of additional elements such as film washi tape (rectangles), cork arrows and chevrons from Studio Calico and Kaisercraft elements; journaling tags from Collectables 'Take Note' and chevron and star rub-ons to add to my layout.  To add more rectangles I selected and cut a range of papers from my paper stash, a mini note page (Kaisercraft Collectable 'Take Note') and a piece recycled cardboard I cut from a packing box. I distressed and then inked inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink 'Vintage Photo' . Two of the papers were made into rectangular frames with some natural twine around one. 

My chipboard words and the Studio Calico little wood veneer boy were painted blue and green with my watercolour crayons and the packet of cogs I had purchased from Simon Says Stamps quite a while ago (waiting for that perfect male card to make) were perfect for this layout. I placed pins into the centre of the cogs and layered 3 of them together, placed the small one with some rub-ons and to finish off the layout I added a 'SNAP picture PERFECT' tag.

Hope you enjoyed looking at my first layout for my grandson, I really enjoyed taking on the challenge to create this layout for 1,2,3 Get Scrappy.

Mum's smile - Scrap It With Attitude May Challenge.

My mum is the most loving caring and wonderful person I know, her family is the most important thing in her life and would do anything for us.  She never liked her photo being taken but after the loss of her own mum (who also wouldn't let us take her photo) she realised that photos are so important.

This is my take on the Scrap it with attitude Mood Board for May

My background was created by using my new stencil and modelling paste, then spraying the paper with 'Bubblegum pink' and 'London Blue' Dylusion Ink Sprays  I created vivid coloured area to back my embellishments and photo. Other background elements included several different washi tapes, script stamping with StazOn and watercolour splats using watercolour crayons.

Journaling and embellishments are mostly from Kaisercraft; Collections 'Curiosity' and 'Telegraph Road', large and small flowers, crochet doilies, buttons and chipboard 'Mum'. I used Tim Holtz 'Vintage photo' distress ink to edge the pieces and curled and folded the butterflies to give dimension and added pearl drops for a feminine feel. Touches of cheese cloth softens the layers of paper pieces which have been distressed and inked with Tim Holtz 'Vintage photo' distress ink. The cardstock frame I covered with gesso, stamped a script stamp over it and painted the heart red. I finished off the layout with pink embroidery thread around the photo.

Polka Dots and Stripes DT inspiration- Off the rails Scrapbooking.

I love to scrap and I love to camp,so why not do them together with a great friend, which what I did on the Easter weekend. Before leaving home I actually planned what layouts I was trying to complete and collected a few photos that I have been looking forward to use in my layouts. That's a first for me as I just take lots of stuff and usually go from there.

This photo is of my nephew a couple of years ago, he loves nature and at his brothers birthday party I found him exploring the garden.

This is my take on using polka dots and stripes in a layout.

 To start I chose a piece of latte striped 12x12 paper and covered it with watered down white gesso, I then placed torn strips of 2 different spotty paper in a striped effect on the wet gesso and finished off the effect with gesso over the top in a range of thicknesses. When dry I used modelling paste and my dot stencil to give texture the top right hand corner.

I wanted to stamp stripes onto my page but as I was camping when I did this layout and forgotten to pack a ruler I had to improvise. I tore the flap off of a carton of water we had finished and used it with StazOn ink. It resulted in brilliant stripes with a zigzag pattern between the lines. I added washi tape- birds on a line and a film strip and then layered different spot and striped scrap papers which I distressed  edges and edged with vintage photo distress ink.

To lift the stenciled spots I used a fine spot stamp with a memento ink pad, 'Tim Holtz' vintage photo and peeled paint distress inks and I hand drew stripes with my journal pen. The silver tree embellishment I brought in a jewelry pack from one of my local hand made jewelry shop  added another touch of nature to the layout .  To finish off my page I used a cardboard tube and the lid of a spray bottle to print  circles with StazOn ink
