A peachy time in November at Imaginarium Designs

Hoping you have been able to get some time to create over the last month. This month was a challenge and a half for me...peach...definitely not a colour I use or love...but surprise surprise I actually became inspired by the colour and ideas flowed easier than I thought.

The pages of this journal page were firstly sealed with white gesso. When very dry I used my fingers to combined yellow and pink Dusty Attic acrylic paint to make peach across the pages. Gesso over the heart and clock stencils blended and softened the colour over the page. The patterned edge around the page was created by dipping the edge of the scalloped edged tag into the grey acrylic paint and a burgundy paint being used to cover the 'Time flies' and 'frame' chippie. Black paint mixture in a fine tipped bottle was used to make the black circular lines around the photos. Old lace, gold pointer stickers and paint splats finished the page.

Imaginarium Design products used included:
Clock Face Stencil IDMM003
Heart Stencil IDMM001
Five tags in a board IDS0064
Leah Frame IDFR0034
Time flies when you're having fun IDP0064

It's a journal type of day, here's another.... I used stencils and the chippie negatives as stencils on this background.

I mixed my own peach colour using pink and pale yellow acrylic and smeared it across my gesso covered pages. Gel medium was placed over the cross stencil and let to dry. Using blue and yellow acrylic and the negatives of circles and arrow chippie. Stamping and pen scribbling edging borders the page, circles, arrows and crosses. The finishing touch was adding one of Fiona Paltridges Little Peeps Aall&create stamp sets.

Products used:
Crosses Stencil IDMM006

My last share is a layout using patterned paper, the paper was very bright so adding a coat of gesso in a range of thicknesses softens but not totally covers the pattern. This is a simple page incorporating Imaginarium Designs chippie and layers of paper.

The colours of peach and pink were added using a roller. I constructed layers of coloured and book page papers to place under the photo and the tag with twig chippie painted with brown paint. The title was made with a combination of chippie letters and #wonderful.

Chippie used include:

Isobel Uppercase case alphabet IDA009
Isobel lower case IDA0010

Hope you have enjoyed my latest ideas and have a go at some of the new ways I have used the chip board and stencils at Imaginarium Designs.

October is the month of blue over at Imaginarium Designs

The year is flying past...It's October already it's hard to believe. I  have just had the opportunity to attend a fantastic retreat..full of friends and inspiration. Here are a few of the things I was inspired to create.

The first creation was using some of my ephemera from a stop over to my favourite antique shop in Casterton.

I used a combination of blue toned paint and white gesso for the background of this map page of ephemera from an old book that was falling apart. When dry I used a sewing machine to stitch in straight and zig zag stitches around the black border to define and add texture to the page. I used distress oxide ink to colour the heart, background and # chippie, building layers of a range of papers and natural hessian further adding depth and more texture.

The chipboard I used in this page included:

IDW0094 #instagram etc.
Circles and diamonds IDS0091
Nats hearts 1 IDD0042

My second creation I would love to share was created in my art journal and as I didn't want too much bulk in my book I decided to challenge myself in how many ways I could use one stencil.

The background was blue acrylic and gesso blended together with my fingers as the tool. I used 'Kate Stencil' for my challenge stencil and began with using a scrapper tool to smear white gesso over the stencil. When dry I sprayed Lindy's Danny Zuko Denim over it several times which softened and defined pattern all at the same time. The second technique was stamping over the stencil with a blending tool and Distress Oxide ink 'Denim'. While the ink was still dry on the stencil I turned it over and printed with it like a stamp.  I dried each layer with at heat gun to ensure that it was dry before the next layer was added. The next technique I used was using an Faber Castell ink pencil and tracing the inside edges then I used a water paintbrush to gently add water to the edge of the marks to make them bleed and blend with the background. I painted the phrase in a white paint with only a slight touch of blue added. To finish off the page I stamped a single dandelion in a grassy spot being blown by the wind.

The Imaginarium products I used were:

Kate Stencil IDMM005

Rest Relax Recharge IDP0194

My last share was a quick tag I made when I realised I had only made 3 instead of 4 project pieces...oops. I was a great way to challenge myself in creating with no plan and going with what felt right in the moment.

I tore up a cardboard box to make the tag, ripping off some of the top layer to reveal the corrugations. After making a hole I tied some white twine through the hole then constructed layers using a variety of papers including an old dress pattern to add some extra dimension. The chippie was coated in Distress Oxide ink 'denim' and placed onto the tag with the layers to complete the look.

The chippie I used in this tag was:

Kraft and Natural September over at Imaginarium Designs

Hi everyone, September is the month that I would like to inspire you to use Kraft/Natural elements in your creations. I love going to second hand shops and my bestie and I always make sure we pop into our favourite shop every time we head to Melbourne and we get very excited in obtaining new supplies of ephemera to add to our projects.

One of my other loves is geocaching... treasure hunting... and it takes me all over Australia. I love taking photos of old ruins and wagons which are perfect for using in my layouts and the old stamps I got from our favourite shop were perfect to add to my layout.

I used rust paints to layer over the chipboard cogs, matching the rust on the wagon wheels in the photo and mixed the paint with gesso to tie the background into the layers of the layout.  A huge thankyou to my special friend Deena for giving me some old negatives; this negative strip is of old quilts....perfect..I thought for my background layers. I added hessian for texture and to provide depth to the page. The chipboard title was coated in yellow oxide rust paint to give texture and an earthy colour with the chevron being grey white to connect with the torn sections of the paper layers and old weathered wood of the wagon.

My second share today is a hand cut Kraft tag; I have used new australian designed 13arts papers by Fiona Paltridge in my layers to add to the rustic historic feel I was aiming for.

This was a quick project using gesso and a swipe of rust paint and blue distress ink over a stencil for the background. A stack of papers, black cotton and tickets cut from Fiona's papers make up the next layer with the addition of the painted number chipboard, brass cogs and hessian to build up the layers up. To finish the tag I added splats of white paint and a beautiful brass clock and key embellishment.

IDN0001 Numbers 38 per page

My last share with you all today is a page I've been waiting to do for a while, I love this photo and have been waiting for the right challenge to use it.

This striking page was created by applying some sections of washi tape then using a roller to apply a section of red acrylic paint onto the page, the same paint was used over an alphabet stencil. Sections of white dots were added with a stencil and white acrylic and some writing with a mix of black paint and gel medium in a fine nosed applicator bottle was added for contrast. The photo was added over the top of natural coconut fibre with a wooden painted button embellishment. The chipboard title was painted in black acrylic paint to tie the whole page together.
